Grown with certified Irish provenance. A fast-growing, medium-sized native tree, Alder is suitable for shelter belts, coastal environments or woodlands. Alder copes well in damp or even waterlogged soil. They are attractive trees with medium-sized, rounded leaves, catkins in spring and cones in the autumn. They play an important part in our native woodlands and can be interplanted with other hardwood trees such as ash or oak. Useful where a fast-growing woodland is required, such as around new houses in rural area where soil may be poor. This tree also has good tolerance to seaside conditions.
