Cynara cardunculus

Cardoon, Artichoke thistle

Price: €7.95

Fabulous silver foliage - a very 'architectural' plant. Cardoons are very closely related to the globe artichoke (Cynara scolymus), and almost all parts can be eaten, from the roots to the flowers and the stems in between. They are also grown for their striking silvery-grey foliage and blue, thistle-like flowers. Foliage remains throughout the winter. Plant with Allium, Nepeta 'Six Hill's Giant', Verbena bonariensis and Coreopsis 'Moonbeam', or as part of your vegetable garden.  Plant in well-drained to dry soil in full sun. 2L container.
