Luzula sylvatica

Common woodrush

Price: €8.95

A native, clump-forming  groundcover grass which grows well in woodland settings to form a low evergreen mat. We use this in 'wild' gardens and interplant it with perennials and bulbs. It grows wild in many locations in Ireland - both dry and moist. One of the photos on the right shows it growing in the Devil's Glen in Ashford, Co Wicklow, another in a garden by us in Foxrock, Co Dublin. The plants seed around and will gradually produce more plants. Requires little or no care, but it should be kept mulched and weed-free when establishing. Should be planted in large amounts: 4 - 5 plants per square metre, or less if interplanting with other species. Ideal for mixing with Daffodils.  2 litre pots. Please note, items displayed on this website may not be available in each of our shops.  (M)
