Tulip trees grow to be large trees, similar to Plane trees but with unmistakable T-shaped leaves. They are called 'Tulip trees' because they produce tulip-like flowers in summer (though this doesn't always happen in this climate). Their new leaves are very charming, and Tulip trees make an excellent and unusual specimen for anyone interested in something a little rare. Excellent yellow autumn foliage. They like fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade, and although exceptionally hardy they prefer a location sheltered from strong winds. Half standard size, 200-225 cms tall, 10 litre container.
