Grown with certified Irish provenance. Without doubt, the king of native trees in these islands. Adaptable to most conditions, the oak can grow to 25m x 25m, but prefers moist, humus-rich soil. After planting, top-dress the soil with leaf-mould, bark mulch, manure or garden compost. Not suitable for smaller gardens, but ideal for avenues, farms, hedgrows or estates, this plant can support up to 400 species of insects, animals, fungi etc, supply kindling and wood for burning, and have the classic rounded tree shape so characteristic of our countryside. Can live up to one thousand years old. To get an idea of scale, in the image look careully to see the person under the tree.
