Dramatic and spectacular, a mass of tall blue flowers in summer. In its first year it produces rosettes of large hairy leaves. In its second year it will shoot upwards and branch out to 2m tall and 1.5m wide. These flowers last a long time, and attract an enormous amount of bees and other insects. It is a more shrubby variety of the very very tall Echium pininana. After flowering, leave the seedhead for a few weeks to scatter its seeds - plants will show up around the place in subsequent years. Plant in well-drained soil in full sun or semi-shade. Not suitable for inland areas unless in a very sheltered spot. Healthy Irish-grown plants in small 9cms pots. Please note, items displayed on this website may not be available in each of our shops.
