Allium ampeloprasum var. ampeloprasum

Elephant garlic

Price: €4.50

Elephant garlic is not a true garlic, but is actually a leek with garlic-like bulbs and a mild garlic flavour. The bulbs are huge and can grow up to 15cm wide and weigh up to 1kg. Plant from September to December, give it plenty of sunlight, well drained soil and feed in spring with a potash feed. Harvest when the shoots start to turn yellow. Best used by roasting the cloves. Plant individual cloves 6-8 inches apart. Per 3 cloves. Please note, items displayed on this website may not be available in each of our shops.
