Rosa banksiae 'Alba Plena' / White Banksia rose

This is a vigourous, semi-evergreen almost thornless rose, suitable for a sunny wall or fence. Clusters of scented, small, creamy-white flowers appear in late spring or early summer, earlier than most other roses. Ideal if you want to cover a large area, or to cover an unsightly surface. It can also be grown through a mature tree. Best in full sun or semi-shade in fertile, well-drained soil. Put some compost or leaf mould around the base every year, and cut back soon after flowering so that you will have plenty of flowers the following year. It will need something to hold onto, so if on a wall make sure you have a trellis or wires for it to hold onto. This plant requires space, as it can grow to a height of up to 10 metres with a spead of 3-4 metres. Most of the leaves stay on the plant for most of the year, but it can lose some leaves in cold spells.
Irish-grown plants 80-100cm tall in a 3 litre container.
Plants are generally available in our Monkstown shop. Nationwide delivery is available on this item.
