Dogwoods include everything from small shrubs to medium sized trees. Most are deciduous (ie lose their leaves) but some are evergreen. Many have unusual, brightly-coloured twigs and stems, while others have beautiful flowers.

Cornus contraversa 'Variegata' is most appreciated for its creamy green-white leaves and its tiered branch structure, making it look like a 'wedding cake'. It looks especially striking in spring and early summer when the new leaves appear.

A medium-sized deciduous tree, suitable for suburban or country gardens. Plant in sun or light shade in moist to well-drained, fertile soil and a relatively sheltered location. Can grow to a height of over 8 metres and a spread of over 4 metres. We don't recommend pruning, but a little bit of judicious intervention can assist the tree in having that perfect tiered structure, ie remove unwanted twigs and branches to maintain the tiered shape. 3 litre container, 60-80cm in height, Irish-grown plants.

Trees and other large plants are delivered in the Dublin area in our own van. They are too large and fragile to be sent via courier. Most plants on this website are available in our Monkstown shop. If you do want to have plants delivered outside the Dublin area, please contact us via the contact form to see if its possible.
