Ficus 'Brown Turkey' / 'Brown Turkey' fig
A self-fertile edible fig that, when planted in the correct location, produces tasty figs in the Irish climate. Also an attractive 'architectural plant' because of its large and distinctive leaves. Figs prefer poor, well-drained or even stony soil. Ideally, plant against a sunny wall or fence. Constrain the roots where possible by lining the planting hole with paving slabs or an old pot without its base. Fruit is produced in the autumn. Can grow to a height and spread of 2.5-4 metres - train in a 'fan-shape' against the wall if possible. Deciduous. Tall, Irish grown plants, 175-200cm in height in a 7.5 litre pot.
Plants are also generally available in our Monkstown shop. Because of its size and weight, this plant can only be delivered in County Dublin.
