This is the 'extra white' birch that people sometimes call the silver birch. This, the Himalayan birch, has the whitest of all birch barks. On young plants the twigs and stems are not yet white, but after a few years, as the bark matures it turns brilliant white. Fast-growing, medium-sized deciduous tree that grows well in almost all environments, making it a very adaptable plant. Great for city and suburban gardens because of its trouble-free qualities: it does not take significant light, does no harm to foundations or walls. Much loved by architects and designers for its clean white stems and light, airy form. It makes an impressive specimen in winter too, when its pure white bark is at its most visible. Plants are sold at 200-220cm tall, 7,5 litre pot, Irish-grown.
