Homalomenas are very low-maintenance tropical and sub-tropical plants that are native to warm and humid climates found from northern South America and southern Central America all the way to southern Asia and Melanesia. 'Lime' produces roughly oval leaves of a vibrant yellowish-green that are lush, compact and tidy.
Light: This plant will thrive in medium light conditions, but will tolerate low light as well. Too much sun will scorch the foliage.
Water: Does not like to get dry, nor does it like to be soggy, so try to water when the top two inches of compost are drying out and there is moisture towards the bottom of the pot. Fertilise every other week during the growing season.
Air: Suits a wide range of temperatures from 16ºC-32ºC. Likes a slightly higher than normal humidity, so mist the foliage between waterings, sit the plant on a tray of watered pebbles or use a humidifier.
When repotting, use a well-draining houseplant potting mix and add some perlite to increase drainage, if necessary.
Pot size: D15cm x H11cm Plant size: approximately W30cm x H20cm
