Pinus mugo 'Pumilo' / Dwarf mountain pine
This is an unusal variety of Pine that stays compact and shrubby, making it a good candidate for bonsai, or a billowy, mound-shaped evergreen. Native as it is to sloping mountains, it can cope with cold, drought and wind, and grows best in a sunny, well-drained location. If you need to, you can limit its growth it by snapping off new growth in spring - this is much better than trimming new growth with a shears, which will damage the needles. An excellent choice for a container, roof garden etc. Sold in a 7.5 litre pot, as shown. Sturdy and healthy Irish-grown plants.
