Rhus glabra 'Laciniata' / Smooth sumac
Best known for its fiery autumn colour and striking crimson fruit heads. This is an easily grown shrub or small tree that requires a good bit of space, as it can develop multiple stems as it matures. Ultimate height is 3-5 metres, with a similar spread. Suitable for most soil types, in sun to light shade, sheltered or quite exposed. Unlike staghorn sumac, the stems are smooth. The leaves on this variety are finely dissected, bright green in spring and summer and turning orange to crimson in autumn, making it a very striking plant. Irish-grown plants 80-100cm in height, in a 3 litre pot.
Plants are generally available in our Monkstown shop. Because of its size and weight, this plant can only be delivered in County Dublin.
