Wisteria is one of the prettiest climbing plants. It has trailing racemes of scented, lilac-blue flowers up to one foot long, from late spring into early summer, with some repeat flowers later in summer. It is a woody climber that can clamber through trees, over archways or up sunny walls and fences. It requires support such as strong wire, wooden poles etc. Also suitable for steps and railings at the front of a house - we have planted it in many Dublin gardens over the years. 'Prolific' flowers from a young age and is attractive to bees. Plant in sun or light shade, in moist but well-drained soil. If planted in a pot, make sure it's a big one and ensure you use a good quality compost with some garden soil or John Innes No 3 compost. It's important to prune it every year if you want lots of flowers. Basically, cut back all stems except the main ones to approx 3 buds.  Do a cut-back after flowering to keep it under control and then a bigger trim in the winter.

Plants are 175-200cm tall in a 7.5 litre container.

Because plants are fragile, we no longer ship them nationwide via courier. We have tried, but even with the best packaging available they can be damaged. Plants are delivered in the Dublin area in our own van. Plants on this website are often available in our Monkstown shop.
