John Robert Keitley Duff (1862-1938), Cottage on a Hillside

A lesser known artist from the late 19th and early 20th century, J.R.K.Duff was an English landscape and architectural artist who specialised in pastels and etchings. This scene looks decidedly Irish, from the landscape itself to the architecture of the small, isolated farmstead.

He exhibited with the Royal Academy in London between 1891-1925, and there are works of his in the British Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum and the Smithsonian in New York.
