Anonymous artist, Irish Coastline

Beautifully executed study of rocks, water and sky. Judging by the style and condition, the painting appears to be from the early 20th century, and the landscape to be of the west or northwestern coast of Ireland. There is an inscription on the rear of the frame 'Attributed to Charles Lamb', though we do not know who wrote this or when. This painting was purchased in Belfast and no other provenance is known. Regardless, it is a captivating and skillful painting, full of movement and light. Charles Lamb's work often dealt with this subject matter and this is also very much in the style of his early works.
