An anonymous watercolour depicting a dramatic sea cave with the setting sun at the far end. A small boat with two people on board is in the cave, along with swooping seabirds. This extraordinary mysterious scene seems to be saying something... we are not sure what. The elaborate frame of leather fruit and foliage is somewhat decayed, adding to the 'gothic' nature of this work. Someone put a lot of effort and expense into the presentation of this work: why?
