Highly detailed, colourful and vibrant watercolour of a pastoral landscape. An open clearing amongst young trees, shimmering and moving in the light. Jones workd as a war artist and gained the nicknmae 'Detail Jones' because of his precision and attention to detail. He subsequently went on to document the towns, villages and landscapes of his native north of England. He exhibited locally and at the Royal Academy in London and at the Royal Scottish Academy. His work is part of the Tate Gallery collections as well as other national collections in the north of England.
Watercolour on paper. 40 x 29cm. Signed and dated 1949, bottom right. Newly framed with archival mount and backing and UV protective anti-reflective glass.
