Like many Irish scenes, this one is dominated by sky, with land and sea getting a look-in for the bottom third of the painting. Bairbre is skilled at capturing the dynamics of moving skies in broad strokes, and this is a fine example of that. There is a typically vibrant stratch of green upon which the scene rests.
Bairbre Duggan is an Irish artist who now lives in Amsterdam. She studied history of art at Trinity College, followed by fine art at Wackers Academie in Amsterdam, where she now teaches painting and drawing. She also regularly leads painting courses in Ireland. She has been selected on a number of occasions for the Royal Hibernian Academy's (R.H.A.) Annual Exhibition.
This is the fourth collection of Bairbre's paintings that we have exhibited at Howbert & Mays in Clare Street.
