Ciara Gormley, Amelia's Flowers
Ciara Gormley, Amelia's Flowers
A hastily picked summer boquet, placed in a glass vase. A light-hearted, almost casual moment, captured with the same lightness of touch. As it happens, the 'Amelia' of the title is a well known flower grower who is a regular visitor and customer of Howbert & Mays.
Ciara Gormley lives and works in Co. Waterford. Her work is often focussed on landscape, nature and plants. Harmoniously chosen colours produce energetic, breezy and beautiful works, reflecting brief momentsand often 'negelected' views. She exhibits at a number of galleries in Ireland and the UK.
"I try to paint the way light and colours are constantly shifting, to capture that life in the painting, the way different details catch your eye and also to give shape to the things that are felt and not necessarily seen." The Gloss magazine, interview with Penny McCormick, 2023.
