Conor Gallagher, Sponge (2023)
Conor Gallagher, Sponge (2023)
Conor Gallagher's work uses a diversity of materials such as paint, glue and builders' fillers. Applied with a pallette knife and then scraped over successive layers, his pieces suggest landscapes and seascapes without necessarily depicting specific places.
Conor Gallagher is a Sligo artist, based in Dublin. His work has been exhibited widely, and he has exhibited at the Royal Academy Annual Exhibition in London and regularly at the Royal Hibernian Academy (R.H.A.) in Dublin.
"Sponge" suggests a peaty, boggy landscape with bog cotton in the the foreground and mountains in the distance - a typical west of Ireland landscape.
