Scene depicting the two churches of Monkstown, south county Dublin, as viewed from Carrickbrennan Road. It's an era before heavy traffic - there doesn't appear to be any parking spaces along the road, though this could be 'artistic licence'. This scene was most likey painted in the the late 1980s or early 1990s. This is one of the larger examples of Tomkus's work that we have seen.

Edward Tomkus was a Scottish-born artist of Lithuanian descent, who lived the last 30 years of his life in Ireland. His paintings are rich in russets and browns, normally of local scenes in and around Dublin.

Unframed. 70 x 55cm. For sale and on display in our Monkstown location.
