Eric Patton (1905-2004), Clare Street from Merrion Square

Eric Patton R.H.A. worked in oil, watercolour and as a printmaker. His views of Georgian Dublin, made in the early 1980s, show an unsentimental, uncluttered version of Dublin. Notable for their attention to architectural detail, the period street furniture and vehicles, as well as the subtle colouring and perspectival skill, the lithographs document Dublin at a very particular time. He exhibited with the Royal Hibernian Academy
