Woodland scene, most likely Marlay Woods in Rathfarnham, where Hone frequently sketched and painted. Some similar pieces are currently on display in the National Gallery of Ireland, in the Mainie Jellett & Evie Hone 'Art of Friendship' exhibition.
This painting demonstrates Hone's capacity to choose and mix colours with skill and vtality, her ability to capture movement and light, and also her love of trees and nature.
