Morning light cutting through trees, casting long shadows across a garden or parkland. Allen travelled extensively in Ireland, and many of his best work features the landscapes of the west of Ireland.
Epworth Allen was a British artist who travelled in Ireland in the 1930s, mainly around Achill Island and along the west coast. Known as a landscape painter with a surrealist style, he exhibited with the Royal Academy for more than two decades from the 1930s to the 1950s. His work is now in many collections and galleries in the UK.
