This watercolour by Mabel Young features what appears to be her favourite subject: trees. In fact, she often painted trees in pairs or in groups, showing their relationship with each other as well as with the broader landscape. She exhibited regularly at the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) between 1928 and 1961. Interestingly, she was the wife of the much-celebrated artist Paul Henry. Looking at her work now we can see his influence, but also appreciate her own sense of style and colour. She lived for most of her life in Wicklow.

Watercolour, 39cm x 28cm.

Re-framed by us with UV resistant glass and acid-free mount and backing.

On display and for sale in our Clare Street shop in Dublin.
