Much of Maria Simonds-Gooding's output has focussed on the coastal areas of Kerry and around the Blasket Islands. She has been described as "one of Ireland's foremost painters and printmakers to have emerged since the Sixties", and her etchings and paintings are instantly recognisable and highly collecteible.
Maria Simonds-Gooding is represented in many collections, including the Irish Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum in New York. She had a major retrospective in the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) in 2014, is a member of Aosdána.
