Landscape painting depicting trees and rolling grassland, with mountains in the distance. A low, red building is on the left. In the middle distance are what appear to be figures. Knowing that Norah O'Kelly lived in Calcutta from approximately 1912 to 1918, we can wonder if this painting is from her Indian period. The figures could well be nuns, as they are depicted entirely in black and white. O'Kelly lived and taught at a Loreto convent in Calcutta. O'Kelly was adept and painting trees, and this painting is no exception.

The little we know about Norah O'Kelly is that she was a student during the early years of the 20th Century at the Metropolitan School of Art in Dublin. In 1914, she was one of a small number of Irish people to exhibit at an exhibition of British Arts & Crafts at the Louvre, with a picturial plaque entitled  An Aesop Fable. She also had four pieces in the R.H.A. exhibition of 1916 that were damaged when the exhibition building was burned. LIttle is known of her later life, though it is believed that she was teacher.
