Pete Hogan, Merrion Square to Clare Street

Pete Hogan has been painting the buildings, people and landscapes of Dublin for several decades, and is also an experienced round-the-world sailor sailor and maritime artist. This large watercolour shows the north side of Merrion Square, looking past Oscar Wilde's house (No 1 Merrion Square) to Clare Street and Trinity College beyond. At the time of painting (late 1980s), No 16 Clare Street (now Howbert & Mays) was Greene's bookshop.
