A small but poignant portrait of Frescati House, Blackrock, just months before its demolition in 1983. The house, a huge house by the coast in Blackrock, Co Dublin, was built in 1793 and enlarged on a number of occasions. It was home to Lord Edward FitzGerald, amongst others. It was bought by the Roche Family (of Roche's Stores) in 1970 and from that point went into a protracted, deliberate decline, despite years of effort to save it. It was demolished in November 1983.

Peter Pearson in architectural historian, writer and artist. His ethereal paintings and drawings often portray the built heritage and landscape of Dublin and its environs.

Watercolour on paper. Image size approx 10x7.5cm Signed, titled and dated bottom right.
