Watercolour landscape depicting a pastoral landscape and large country house. Horses graze beneath mature trees, autumnal colours prevail.Signed and titled bottom right. Interestingly, this is the home of the soldier and poet Siegfried Sassoon, a place frquented by other literary types such as E.M. Forster.
Rupert Shephard was an English painter and illustrator, and also a teacher, including at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London in the 1940s. He was elected a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 1972. His work is included in the collections of the National Portrait Gallery and British Musem in London.
