Carew Finch (1908-1985), Trees

Not much is known about the British-Irish painter and architect, Carew Finch. The address sticker on the reverse of this painting gives his address as 14 Ailesbury Drive in Dublin. His work ranges from abstract Modernist to landscapes and representational works. This small oil on canvas painting is wonderfully atmosphereic and most accomplished. It depicts a grassy grove of beech trees, most likely in the Dublin or Wicklow foothills.

18cm x 24cm excluding frame. Initialed bottem left. Inner frame in need of some repair or replacement.
