Cercis canadensis 'Merlot' / Red bud tree 'Merlot'

An unusual and elegant small tree, a favourite tree for some of our customers. Suitable for the smaller garden where an unusual, elegant tree would be appreciated. This small to medium sized tree is multi-stemmed and rounded in shape, most recognisable for its dark red, heart-shaped foliage. It has dark pink pea-like flowers in late spring. Suitable for most soil types, for sun to light shade, ideally out of exposed or windy locations. Allow it to grow to its natural shape, and mulch around the base with bark mulch, leaf mould or home-made compost, which will keep the soil fertile and healthy. 

Irish-grown plants, 130-140cm tall, 10 litre pot.

Generally available in our Monkstown shop. Due to the size and fragility of this plant, it can only be delivered in County Dublin.
