Conor Gallagher, Máinís IV
Conor Gallagher's work uses a diversity of materials such as paint, glue and builders' fillers. Applied with a pallette knife and then scraped multiple times over successive layers, his pieces suggest landscapes and seascapes without depicting specific places or features. Inspired by the terrain of his native Sligo, this particular piece is striking for its absence of colour, which seems to accentuate the sparkle and and complexity of the Irish coastline.
