John Kingerlee, Bray Head
Gorgeous textures and colours in this alluring painting (1980) by John Kingerlee. Born in 1936, Kingerlee is a much admired and collected artist, both in Ireland and internationally. Originally from Birmingham, he has lived in West Cork for decades. His work has been exhibited internationally, most notably in the US and Canada. A dark Wicklow head protrudes beyond Bray Head. There's an upturned boat on the shore and a mysterious figure on the shoreline.
