A young woman sits on a windowsill in a serene garden. It's a pretty, somewhat poignant scene, made with a pallet of muted greens, red and white. Most likely painted in the 1930s or 1940s. A note on the reverse says the following:

PAINTING BY MARGARET LOUGH, (WIFE OF [DAVID] BOND WALKER), signed by her daughters M.F. Walker and E.B. Walker.

Margaret Lough was the wife of the artist David Bond Walker, who was in turn the son of Thomas Bond Walker, also a well-regarded artist.  She was plainly an accomplished painter in her own right, but we can locate no other example of her work other than this one painting. Margareat Lough and her husband David Bond walker lived in Newcastle Co Down. The date of her birth and death are unknown.

Oil on board, 43 x 38cm. Initialled M.L. bottom right. In original frame with note to reverse.Like most artworks listed, this piece is available and on display in our Calre Street, Dublin location.
