We are lucky enough to have a number of signed etchings by Maria Simonds Gooding. These pieces date from the 1980s and 1990s and a highly prized. Etchings are hand signed, titled and numbered at the base.
Depicting aspects of the landscape around her home on the rugged coastline of Dún Chaoin, opposite the Blasket Islands, Co Kerry. Sensitive to the struggle of humans to survive in the harshest of natural environments, her work often focusses on 'difficult' or inhospitable landscapes, including the sea.
Maria Simonds-Gooding is represented in many collections, including the Irish Museum or Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum in New York. She had a major retrospective in the Royal Hibernia Academy (RHA) in 2014, is a member of Aosdána. She has been described as "one of Ireland's foremost painters and printmakers to have emerged since the Sixties"
Sold unframed. A number of pieces have been framed by us. Framing adds €110 to the cost, on archival mount with oak frame and non-reflectove, UV resistant glass. Most etchings are approx 20 x 25cm (image size).
