Robert Cresswell Boak was a Donegal-born artist who specialised in landscapes, partarticularly focussed on the northwest of Ireland. He was an accomplished etcher as well as watercolourist.

Born in Letterkenny in 1875, he and his wife emigrated to London in 1932. Prior to that he exhibited a number of times with the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin. He produced a number of hand coloured, limited edition etchings of landscapes from around Ireland. Always meticulously detailed and finely executed, they provide something of a fascinating record of the Irish landscape in the early years of the twentieth century.

This landscape watercolour shows what might be described as a 'typical' western Irish landscape. A small dirt road leading to two cottages folded into the side of the hill.

20.5 x 30 cm excluding frame and mount. Watercolour on paper / card.  Signed bottom left. In original frame and mount, in excellent condition, with original William Rodman Gallery label on the reverse.

Artworks can be viewed and purchased in our Clare Street shop. Overseas shipping is available on request.
