This pastel drawing captures a corner of Ballybrack village in south county Dublin, a place that has evolved and developed over the last decades from a small, almost country village to a sprawling suburban residential area. It captures that evolution, with the mature pine tree from another era cheek-by-jowel with car parking spaces and new street-scaping.
Stephen Taylor lives and works in Dublin. Many of his paintings and drawings feature plants, animals and birds, as well as urban and suburban landscapes. He is well known for his landscapes of 'everyday' views along the south Dublin coast. Stephen works at Dublin's Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) and holds regular exhibitions in and around Dublin.
